You cannot change difficulty in the middle of the game - you'll have to start over if you want to modify it. When choosing your difficulty at the start of the game, be very sure of your choice. In Beginner Mode, you receive less and do more damage while in Proud Mode, you receive more damage from enemies. The amount of damage to do to enemies & the amount you receive when getting hit will change according to your difficulty level. When you choose the Proud Mode, it will be much easier to obtain the Secret Ending since the criteria is easier. If Sora is defeated, the two voices of Sora and Yozora will speak out the final line of the scene, indicating that they have merged into one being. There are some minor differences between a Sora win and a Yozora win. Whichever ever ending is achieved the same cut scene will play out with Yozora waking in the backseat of a car. Yozora walks up to Sora's floating body and utters the line "I will save you." If the player defeats Yozora, he will dissipate into a bright flash of white light, Leaving Sora with an enigma by stating, "I guess, that my powers aren't needed yet." If the player fails the battle they will watch as Sora crystallizes into a frozen statue, leaving the player lost without their hero. One of the most interesting parts of the Yozora battle is that win or lose, the player is rewarded with one of the secret endings.
